Chess (K-5th)
Learn chess with Magnus Academy (formerly Silver Knights), world champion Magnus Carlsen’s academy! We’ve taught 100,000 children to play including state and national champions, but most students are beginners looking to learn a new skill and have FUN. Class time is divided between lessons and practice games. Lessons range from the basic rules to advanced tournament strategies. Students will have the opportunity to play in tournaments (in-person and online) outside of club time. This in-person club includes free online extras including weekly practice tournaments and an event with world champion Magnus Carlsen or Judit Polgar, the best female chess player of all time. Chess Club and Team (K-5th)
We’re taking the chess club to the next level! Students now have the option to do Chess Club or Chess Club and Team. During Chess Club, time is divided between lessons and practice games. Lessons range from the basic rules to advanced strategies. During the second Team hour there's a focus on preparing students for tournaments, solving puzzles, and playing tournament style games. All chess supplies provided. All students receive a ChessKid Gold Membership with the program.
The Chess Club and Team option will meet 1-day a week for 2 hours.
Fall: Flour Power (K-3rd)
In this baking course, our chefs-in-training will learn how to make delicious and nutritious desserts. We will explore ingredients familiar and new to bake savory and sweet dishes. Students will make Key Lime Pie, Little Orange Cakes, Avocado Brownies, and so much more! Foundational cooking skills will be taught, including proper techniques for measuring, mixing, slicing, dicing, and of course, kitchen safety! We hope to see you in the kitchen soon.
Battle Robots (3rd-5th)
Let’s duke it out, RoboThink-style! In this competitive camp, students will be building and customizing a variety of different battle robots, then competing in a wide range of different activities. By using gears, motors, axles and our own special hardware, your child will be in for the battle of a lifetime. No experience necessary, just come battle and have fun!
Cats & Dogs Veterinarian Kids (K-5th)
Enjoy unparalleled opportunities to immerse yourself in the fascinating world of veterinary medicine! Begin by adopting a stuffed animal that you can take home. Learn how to examine both cats and dogs of different breeds and assess their health, treat common illnesses, give them shots, and prepare for common dangers your pet may encounter.
